Thomas (Tommy) Gilbert, 59, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 6, 2017.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of Hampton, who was passionate about fishing and boating. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and spent over 30 years working at Howmet Corporation.
He leaves behind his sister, Cathy Quinn and husband, Tom; brothers, Charles (Bubby) Gilbert and John Gilbert; his two loving daughters, Kristen Gilbert and Amanda Acree; nieces, Brandy and Melissa Sprouse; his girlfriend, Cammie Barefoot and daughter; Lyndsey Barefoot; Sandi and Kimberly Clay; as well as many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Tommy's life at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Waterkeeper Alliance at waterkeeper.org.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.

RIP Tommy. Although I haven't seen you in many many years, I will never forget that little smile, that passion for fishing..the nights we all spent on Jeanettes Pier in Nags Head shark fishing, the fun we all had 4 wheeling back in the day with Mike Seay. You were a good friend. My prayers go out to your family.
