Hughie Jay Council, 79, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 9, 2017. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Biggs Funeral Home from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Biggs Funeral Home on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00am with a burial to follow at Jamesville Cemetery.
Hughie was born in Martin County to William Jay Council and Betty Mae Bowen Perry on June 15, 1938. Hughie was united in marriage to Ann Dickerson Council on June 11, 1960 and were happily married for 57 years. From this union they had two children. Hughie was an Army veteran where he served his country honorably. Hughie worked as a garage mechanic at Weyerhaeuser Paper Company for 39 years.
Hughie is survived by his wife Ann Council of the home; daughter Sheila Council Stotesbury, significant other Wayne Peaks of Williamston, NC; son Ashley Jay Council, wife Billie of Jamesville, NC; Grandchildren: Megan Stotesbury, significant other Cody Bryant of Jamesville, NC and Cayden Council, of Jamesville, NC; Sisters: Nell Davis of Windsor, NC; Patty Williams, husband Dennis of Jacksonville, NC; Irish Dean Harrell, husband Exum of Tarboro, NC; Brothers-in-law: Charles "Boweevil" Dickerson, wife Gail of Jamesville, NC; Alban "Buck" Dickerson, wife Wanda of Chester, VA; Tommy Bowen of Williamston, NC; Sisters-in-law: Deanie Mason, husband Bryan of Jamesville, NC; Linda Davis, husband Charlie of Pantego, NC; Alice Lee, husband Bud of Colerain, NC; Special cousin Arthur Council, wife Carolyn of Williamston, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
