Katherine Maxine White Stepan passed away July 9, 2017, in Austin, Texas. She was born to parents Edwin and Ione Killingsworth on May 31, 1922, in Dallas, Texas. Katherine married Joe Douglas White on October 16, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, and they moved to Austin together in 1955 and were long standing members of First United Methodist Church in downtown Austin. Joe passed away in 1973, and Katherine was remarried to John Stepan in 1977.
Katherine was a proud, kind, sweet, loving lady. She was always there to listen and offer support to her children and others, but never one to demand, judge or criticize. Her love for her sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, and family was never ending. She loved to sit on her patio and admire her yard, feed the birds, and direct her sons on which flower bed needed to be mulched, or what new plant needed to be potted or planted.
Katherine was a joy to be around. A finer lady cannot be found. Her loss will forever leave a void in the hearts of her family. Her home was always the center point for family gatherings, birthdays, holidays, and much fun was had by all at her home. She loved pretty clothes, and was quite the snazzy dresser in her time. She loved pretty figurines, a clean house, and a well-manicured yard. Her family and friends take comfort in the memories she left us with and that she now rests in Heaven watching over each of us.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ione Killingsworth; and her husbands, Joe D. White, and John Stepan. She is survived by her sons, Douglas White of Orlando, Florida, Richard White of Magnolia Beach, Texas, and Stephen White and wife Lauri of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Brandon White (Vici), Amanda Demarest (Scott), Chris White (Christy), Chuck White, and Cheryl White; great-grandchildren Andi White, Sivanah White, Tyler Richard White, Azure Demarest, Maxwell Demarest, Teddy Demarest, Oliver Demarest, Taylor Ray White, Corey White, and Sarah White; sisters Jaqueline Alamo and Joyce Adams; stepchildren Rodney and wife Sherri, John Ed, and Denise, and their families; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017, with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment to immediately follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

So many happy memories of Joe and Katherine (Grannie and Papa) and the times that we shared. Lions club meetings, drive in movies with Richard and Stephen, the birth of the first special granddaughter, Cheryl and Joe buying her a pair of shoes and coming home with three pairs and a purse. So much love!
