Mary C. Powers, 96, of Manchester, died July 9, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Manchester on July 2, 1921 the daughter of Frank and Delia (Connolly) Powers and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School.
Mary was employed for many years in retail sales at some of the more popular stores in downtown Manchester such as Machinists and Grants. She was a woman of strong faith who attended mass daily. She was also extremely proud of her Irish heritage. when she was younger, Mary thoroughly enjoyed attending ballroom dances around Manchester. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Members of her family include her nephews James Hughes, Daniel Hughes, John Powers and William Powers and her nieces Helena Meade and Patricia O'Brien.
Visitation was held on Thursday June 13 from 10 to 11 am at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Center 235 Myrtle St. in Manchester followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial in the nursing home chapel. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford.

Mary was such a sweet person. She was part of The Community of Living Waters Prayer group and was always quick with a smile, a hug, and an offer of help to anyone who needed it. It is comforting to know that we have an advocate in heaven.
