Jerry Wayne Harrelson, 63, resident of Archdale, passed away July 10, 2017 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Jerry was born on October 10, 1953 in Horry County, SC, a son to the late Ernest Thomas and Lila Pearl Harrelson. He was a graduate of Allen Jay High School and was the Chief Operator at the High Point Water Filtration plant. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, beach music, and cooking. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and always being able to crack a joke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Penny Harrelson; son, Jerry Wayne Harrelson II; and siblings, Larry Harrelson, David Harrelson, and Brenda Poole.
Surviving are his children, Amber Morales and husband Manuel of Thomasville, Wendy Smith and husband Rob of Greensboro, and Johnny Hudson of Thomasville; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Jenny.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, July 12 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Stoneman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, Amber.
