Jean Alice Fenn
August 11, 1946- July 16, 2017
Jean passed away quietly at home surrounded by love on July 16, 2017 after a lengthy, hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born in Chicago on August 11, 1946 to Raymond and Marion Latrimore. She was one of five children, one brother and three sisters, one her identical twin. She graduated from Amundsen High School and then received her nursing degree from Columbus Hospital School of Nursing in 1967.
Jean met her soul mate and future husband, Michael Fenn, in 1966 while attending nursing school and he medical school at the University of Illinois. He graduated and received his M.D. degree in 1968, and they wed one week later on June 15, 1968. They settled in San Diego in 1974, and he practiced Ear, Nose, and Throat surgery for 37 years. She worked as on operating room nurse at El Cajon Valley Hospital and Grossmont Hospital, her nursing career spanning more than 25 years. She was so proud of being a nurse and her dedication and compassionate care endeared her to fellow nurses, doctors, and her patients.
Jean and her husband raised two loving daughters, and were blessed with six grandchildren. Her family was so dear to her and the light of her life. Her soul was pure, and her bright, kind smile endeared her to those lucky enough to share in her life. Her courage and bravery were an inspiration to all who knew her. She enthusiastically rejoiced in life at every turn. Jean recently celebrated her 49th wedding anniversary with her husband, and their mutual love affair is everlasting. “Jean and Mike” are truly one.
Jean is survived by her cherished daughters, Amy and Nancy, six grandchildren, and her sisters, Judy, Jane, and Jan. Private services will take place at El Camino Memorial Park.
