I am so sorry to all of the Swain family and countless friends. Randy was a great friend to my sister Sherry and me besides being our McD's mentor and boss. In true Randy fashion, he made himself available immediately with a single phone call when my sisters and I got a call from Florida of the sudden loss of our beloved still young dad, and grandpa to our children, to a terrible car crash in 1992. We met him like so many through McDonald's. He wanted us to truly be the best we could be with a great balance of instructing with fairness and always applauding our successes. He had a gift with people and such a big heart. Randy loved bringing us all together for fun away from hectic work to attend countless NASCAR races, take a bus full of us to see the Redskins play, or just gathering us Mickey D's people in taking up several tables at a restaurant that was always filled with lots of laughs. He had a great infectious laugh. And as someone here said, Randy definitely lived life to the fullest. All of this is why hearing about this was so heartbreaking. I regret that I wasn't able to leave my condolences to all of you sooner. He is greatly missed.

Randy, I tried reaching out to you to check on this year's VCU team and new coach? Found out about your passing and just want to say to you and Donna how much we appreciated your friendship, the many laughs, and the great games we used to go to and root on our Rams! May we see your smiling face, again, when we meet in heaven. Our prayers are with Donna and your family, during this time. Thanks for the laughs and the lasting friendship

Donna, I am heartbroken over Randy's loss. He was the sweetest little boy and became a wonderful man. So smart but never had to prove it. When I think of him I remember all of joy he gave my parents [ his grandparents] He was daddy's boy. I will take comfort in knowing he is with them. Please take care of yourself at this time of sadness, Randy would want that. Love, aunt wilma

Donna, So sorry for your loss. Randy was always great to work with at Mickey D's. He was my first manager at the young age of 17. He made it fun and what I loved about him was the humor he found in everything. His birthday fell three days before me and it was easy to remember to wish him a great Birthday!! May you find comfort in all the memories and love you shared.

Donna, I am so sorry the loss of your companion. Randy always had a larger than life presence. He taught me a lot, inspired and influenced me in many ways. He was my prickly pear, a little though on the outside, might hurt a little when mishandled, but when you got to the inside you found the good stuff. His leadership, passion and determination will be missed by many.
