David Humphrey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2017.

David Lee Humphrey, 76, a 25 year resident of Beaumont, 37 year resident of Pasadena, and 14 year resident of Silsbee passed away on Friday July 21, 2017. David was born on Wednesday October 2, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to his parents Sydney Wayne Humphrey and Pearl Opal Cash Humphrey who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his favorite uncle; John Cash. David was a Refrigeration Specialist for several large companies including Toromont Industries Ltd. over the course of his career. David was also a proud United States Army Reserves veteran with a rank of PVT (P) E-2. He was a Baptist Christian who dearly loved Karen, Leigh, fishing and being anywhere his grandchildren were. David was an avid fan of Nascar racing, with a great fondness for Jeff Gordon. He loved fast cars, especially his modified 2005 Ford Mustang and had a huge interest in Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Whenever he could he would listen to his favorite classic country, rhythm and blues, or traditional rock and roll songs.

David is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; Karen Progess Humphrey of LaPorte; daughter, Leigh Anne Meeks and husband John Isaac of LaPorte; sister, Wanda Faye LaBoyteaux and husband Bill of Bullard, TX; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Anne Anderson, Lindsay Cash Anderson, and Alyssa Lynn Meeks; great grandson, Ethan David Ortiz; nephews, Mark LaBoyteaux and Kirk LaBoyteaux; and niece, Sheryl LaBoyteaux.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your local animal shelter or humane society.
