Abernathy, Imogene (nee: Jackson), of St. Charles, MO, died on Friday, July 21, 2017, at the age of 89. Loving wife of the late Lucian Abernathy, Jr.; beloved daughter of the late Frank and Mertis Jackson; devoted mother of Dianna (Larry) Gean, Shelia Kay (James) Gallamore, and Brett (Lillian) Abernathy; cherished grandmother of David (Mary) Gean, Mark (Sheryl) Gean, Susan (Gary Jenkins) Gean, Deanna Gean, Michael (Kim) Blankenship, Robin (John) Kampmeinert, Deborah (Tim) Middleton, Joshua Abernathy, Anthony (Macy) Abernathy, Daniel (Amanda) Abernathy, and Rebecca Abernathy; treasured great-grandmother of 26; dear great-great grandmother of 4; and also survived by many cousin, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded is death by her sisters, Helen Dick, Wanda Smith, and Elizabeth Blaylock.
Imogene was a member of First Baptist Church of Harvester, St. Charles, MO, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, she was also the Sunday School record keeper and the Young at Heart coordinator. She volunteered and was the record keeper for Powell Terrace Food Pantry Bogey Hills Baptist Church in St. Charles, MO. Imogene was a member of the Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Columbia IL, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 485 in Dupo, IL. Mostly, Imogene loved being with her family and friends, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
