Philip Lucian Hussey

January 8, 1951 – July 26, 2017

Philip Lucian Hussey passed away on July 26, 2017 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough after a short illness. Philip was born in Maine and spent most of his boyhood in New Hampshire. He moved to Florida with his family in 1966 where he completed high school and attended college. He spent most of his life in the out of doors engaged in landscaping and retired in 2015 from an office job with the State of Florida. He moved to McDonough, Ga to be with his sister and family in October of 2016.

Philip loved nature and the Lord who created it. He spent much of his leisure time in a Florida wildlife refuge, canoeing and capturing in photographs the surrounding beauty. He loved flowers and birds. Later in life when his physical activity was limited his decks were vibrant with color and activity, both the birds and blooms bringing deep delight to his life.

Philip also loved people. Though his circles were small, all who knew him recognized his kind and loving spirit. He was a man of integrity and character whose word was his bond and who was careful not to criticize others. He was always quick to express his gratitude for any small service done and won the hearts of his caregivers in the hospital during his last illness with his sweet and thankful spirit. He loved his family and was very close to many of his great-nieces and nephews, faithfully remembering their birthdays with gifts and delighting in their phone calls, letters and drawings.

Philip is survived by his brother, Stephen Hussey and his wife Connie of Gainesville, FL; his sister, Julia Yacoubian and her husband George of McDonough, GA eight nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews. Their lives have been blessed and enriched by him. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be held by the family at a later date.
