Linda Sumpter Wehr was brought into this world on May 15, 1940 by her parents, Alice and Robert Sumpter and completed their family of 10. She completed her time on this earth July 25th, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her Husband of 52 years Dean Wehr, their beautiful daughters (Toni Bolton and husband Craig, Angie Wehr, and Margie Nelson and husband Curt). She is also survived by her pride and joy- her grandsons (Dean Braudrick, Dillon Braudrick, Brian Nelson, Drake Nelson, and Dane Wehr). Also surviving are her sister Margaret Sumpter and brothers Donald Sumpter and Virgil Sumpter. And daughters of her heart, Teresa Broyles and Jane Charles. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister (Martha Trepton) and four brothers (Bobby Sumpter, Kenneth Sumpter, George Sumpter and James Sumpter). Growing up as the baby in a large family, there is no doubt Linda was loved and cherished by her siblings and parents. In 1964 she married the man she shared the rest of her life with, Dean. Together they began building their life together full of love, family and ambition. She never met a stranger, nor someone who wasn't touched by her words of wisdom, faithful friendship, and occasional "get in line" speeches when they were warranted. She and Dean created three beautiful daughters who brought her joy and happiness every day of her life. In return for her love and guidance, she was rewarded 5 times over with grandson after grandson. Linda always took the time to listen. One of her greatest attributes was the ability to help you work out your problem by never saying a single word. She'd sit, listen, and allow you to come to the conclusion yourself. She didn't judge by your past, she made you believe in yourself even though sometimes you didn't know you could. She shaped lives by being the one person who always answered your call. Beyond her children and grandchildren, she loved every member of her family whether tied by blood or consequence. Her nieces and nephews became her kids, their children- her grandchildren. She was amazingly talented and enjoyed sewing, reading, painting, and the quiet that the country provided. She was a pillar of strength, and the backbone of her family. To say she will be missed doesn't begin to label the loss that is felt. Mother, wife, "memaw", sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, co-worker; she wore many hats. She was proud of the lives she created and leaves behind a legacy in the eyes of her daughters, the strength of her husband, the resilience of her grandsons and in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She lives on in countless stories and memories that we are sure to cherish for years to come.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 30th, 2017 service beginning at 2pm. Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral home. 733 Dalworth, Grand Prairie, Texas. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory to the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.

Linda was always an encourager to me during the short time that we were neighbors. I felt like she was in my corner, rooting me on to do great things with my life. Thank you, Linda, for being a light during an uncertain time in my life.

My childhood memories take me to three houses down where Linda was the coolest mom on the block! She let her girls and their friends be kids and have fun as kids should. She was a second Mom to me then and later on there was a time she became the only Mom I had to turn to and she was their for me....every time.
I was always blessed with her reassurring words and her beautiful calming voice, which I'll never forget. She made an impact on my life and played a part in helping me to be the person I am today.
Thank you for being you. The memories I will cherish. I love you and will keep you in my heart always.
