Nelda "Sharon" Nolen, age 78, of Ridgeway, VA., passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Martinsville Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 23, 1938, in Henry County, VA., to the late Nicodemus and Mildred Franklin Vaughan. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She worked for Bassett-Walker as a seamstress for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Nolen, Sr. and 3 brothers, Tony, Elwood and Kenneth Vaughan.
She is survived by her children; Carmen (Walter) Solomon of Seymour, TN., Donald (Mary) Nolen, Jr. of King, N.C., Mitchell (Judy) Nolen of Martinsville, VA., and Michael (Mia) Nolen of San Antonio, Texas; 1 sister, Alayne Turman of Charlottesville, VA.; 3 brothers, Leroy Vaughan of Riverside, CA., Bunyan "Bunny" Vaughan of Axton, VA., and Donald "Doodie" Vaughan of Axton, VA.; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 29, 2017, 11 am at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery where Pastor Douglas Ramsey, officiated the services.
Memorials may be made in Sharon's honor to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 18075 A.L. Philpott Highway, Ridgeway, VA. 24148.
