Mark W. Baechle, 62, of Columbia, passed away July 27, 2017, at home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Missouri United Methodist church at 204 S. 9th St, Columbia, MO on Friday, August 4, 2017. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mark was born January 20, 1955, in Webster Groves, Missouri to Raymond and Ruth (Watkins) Baechle. Mark was a graduate of the University of Missouri at St. Louis. He worked for the Woolworth's chain as an assistant manager at several stores in the St. Louis area and then as a store manager in Johnson City, Tennessee before going to graduate school to get a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Mark then worked as a computer system professional until he was forced by illness to go on Social Security disability.
Mark was an active member of Missouri United Methodist and was devoted to participating in Bible study classes and helping out at the church. He enjoyed cooking and grilling which he was good at, tending his aquarium of tropical fish, and following the news.
Mark was predeceased by both his parents (Raymond and Ruth). Survivors include his brothers Ralph, Dan, Nick and his wife Uschi, and his parrot Sammie."
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NAMI Missouri.

I have fond memories of Mark & my brother Ted being the bow & stern paddlers in the BWCA while I duffed it in the summer of 1972. Mark was a good soul. My best wishes to his family.
