Richard L. (Bill) King, Sr., 86, of Columbia, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Elks Lodge, 4747 E. Elk Park Dr., Columbia, MO.
Bill was born on August 4, 1930, in Columbia, MO, the son of Judd and Rose Heisler King.
He attended Hickman High School and was a lifelong resident of Columbia. Bill also served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He retired from Nauser Beverage Distributing Company in Columbia, MO.
Bill loved to fish, golf and was a heck of a pool player back in the day. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a 31 year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #594.
He is survived by his children, Sharon (Larry) Bedford, of Springfield, MO, Richard King Jr., of Columbia, MO, Mary (Bud) Van Voorn, of Wentzville, MO, and Michelle King Bradley, of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Marc Bedford, Kendra King, Meghann (Drew) Theobald, Tristan Johnson and Thomas Williams and great grandson Jaidyn Jackson. He is also survived by his partner of 38 years, Dorothy Coats.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Pat Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Missouri Honor Flight, 1400 Forum Blvd, Ste 1-C, Columbia, MO 65203.
