Carol Sandra Wood Pruetz, 78, passed away in a Sugar Land hospital on August 1, 2017 surrounded by her family. Carol was born on December 28, 1938 in Oklahoma City to the late Walter and Hester Wood.
Carol was raised in Taft, TX and Yoakum, TX and graduated from Yoakum High School, class of 1957. She was a cheerleader, sang in the choir, and played the clarinet in the band.
Carol went to business school before marrying her high school sweetheart, John Charles Pruetz, in 1957, celebrating 60 years of marriage this year. They moved to Houston and finally settled in Stafford. She enjoyed working at Meadows Elementary School, Dulles High School and Clements High School. John and Carol retired to the San Bernard River near Churchhill, TX.
Carol enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, hunting, canning the fruits of her labor, watching westerns, and reading. She cherished spending time with her family – 3 children, 7 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren. Cooking and playing games were her joy when it came to the kids. Carol loved the Pruetz Family fantasy football league, winning the inaugural season.
Carol is survived by her husband, John Charles Pruetz, daughter, Terry Lynn Lindsey, son – Steve Pruetz and wife Kelley, son – John Walter Pruetz and wife Gina. Grandchildren are Amanda Lindsey Walters and husband Clint with Presley & Payson, Kari Pruetz Vest and husband Clint with Rhett, Justin Pruetz and Scarlet Cochran with Harper, Cody Lindsey and fiancé Rachel Gonzales, Emma Pruetz, Sarah Pruetz, and Molly Pruetz. Sisters, Sharon Malinak and Gail Bercher and husband Don, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lastly, Carol leaves behind her two beloved chihuahuas, Pepper and Sugar.
The family will meet with friends Friday, August 4, 2017 at 3:30 pm, at Earthman Southwest Funeral Directors, 12555 S. Kirkwood, Stafford TX 77477. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 pm. Burial will take place at Hill Grove Cemetery, Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Yoakum, Texas.
