PEARSON, (Irene) Joyce Miller, 91, of Clearwater and Largo, FL, passed away peacefully with her children beside her on August 3, 2017, in Largo.
Born in Brook Park, MN on July 3, 1926, Joyce was the eighth of the nine children born to Leonard and Bessie Miller. One sister remains: Edna Falck, Largo, FL.
She survived her beloved husband of 58 years, Vance H. Pearson. They moved their family to Clearwater from Minnesota in 1957. A Registered Nurse, she drove patients to their cancer appointments as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and also volunteered at the Clearwater Food Pantry. She and Vance were long time members of Skycrest United Methodist Church of Clearwater.
Joyce was a talented pianist. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and enjoyed planning family vacations and camping trips. By her example, she inspired her family to always do their best. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her five children:
Christopher (Cynthia), Lake Oswego, OR;
Kimberly Smail (Jack), Seffner, FL;
Bruce (Pam), Hudson, FL;
Dana, Riverview, FL; and
Alex, Parker, CO.
Many precious grandchildren also remain: Jessica, Natalie, Jason (Kathleen), Steven (Crystal) Smail, Mitchell Smail, Rebecca Smail, Logan Pearson; and one great-granddaughter, Caidence Pearson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, August 18th at Skycrest United Methodist Church, 2045 Drew St, Clearwater
