Mildred Ellison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 6, 2017.

Mildred Ellison, 98, of Hefner Mansions Senior Living died August 1. She was born July 27, 1919 to Emil F. and Angie S. Stolte in Girard, Kansas. She married Harold L. Ellison on May 5, 1940 and they were married for 65 years. The couple moved to Oklahoma City in 1944 after living in Joplin, MO and Hobbs, NM. After arriving in Oklahoma City, the couple started Ellison Paraffin Service, an oil well servicing company. They ran this successful business together until they retired in 1976.
Mrs. Ellison was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church, enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, and loved shopping, clothes, jewelry, and participating in all the activities at the Mansion. Mrs. Ellison is survived by her daughter Janice Thompson and son-in-law Dr. George Thompson of Shaker Heights, OH and daughter Brenda Glover of Reno, NV. Additional survivors include her grandchildren; Brian Thompson (Angie), Kathy Thompson, Brad Thompson (Susie) and Ryan Glover (LaTricia) as well as her great-grandchildren; Leah, Josh, Abby, Bradianne, Karolyn, Zella, William, Raelynn and Lillian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, son-in-law Roger Glover, grandson Scott Thompson, sisters Florence Conrad and Opal Burgar, brother Chester Stolte and sisters-in-law Louise Parmen, Margaret (Midge) Sauer, and Harriette Duff.
She will be long remembered by those who her life touched. She was so fortunate to celebrate her 98th birthday the Thursday preceding her death with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews from Ohio, Nevada, Kansas and Colorado, as well as her life-long friends and new friends and neighbors from the Mansion.
Her daughters invite friends to join them in a Remembrance of her life at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper at 11:00, Monday, August 7th. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank Golden Age Home Health and Hospice Care. Special Thanks to Marisa, Donna, Susan, and Debbie who cared for her so lovingly. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Linwood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in her name.
