Stephen R. "Steve" Blakely, age 76, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017. Born in Waterbury, CT a son of the late Frank L. Blakely and Alice M. (Wilson) Blakely, he was a longtime resident of East Providence.
A graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA he was a purchaser for American Tourister, Milton Bradley and Davol for many years. He was also a salesman for Bristol Toyota for over 20 years. An avid reader, he was a history buff and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He loved antique British cars, was an enthusiastic New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan and loved animals, especially his cats, Smokey and Morty.
He is survived by his three children, Christina MacFadzen and her partner John Ferron of Springfield, MA, Barbara Lawrence of Andover, KS and Robert Blakely of Birmingham, AL; one brother, Frank Blakely; and five grandchildren, Julia MacFadzen, Sarah Lawrence, Jackson Lawrence, Liam Blakely and Jackson Blakely; and his longtime companion, Patti Mercer. He was the father of the late Jennifer Lee Blakely and William "Billy" Blakely.
His visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM.
Burial will be private. Contributions may be made in his honor to the Potter League, 87 Oliphant Ln., Middletown, RI 02842. For more information, www.wilbur-romano.com.
