Delena Marie Propst Berry
Delena Marie Propst Berry died peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2017 while in Hospice Care at Angels Senior Living in Palm Harbor, Florida. She was born in Elvins, Missouri on January 24, 1925. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Earl C. Berry, and their three children and their families: Rick and Sue Berry of Magnolia, Texas; Shelley (Berry) and Mike deLorenzi of Dunedin, Florida; Alan Berry and Jeanne Sullivan of Largo, Florida.
Marie was known as “Momo” and “Grandma Great” to her much adored four grandchildren and their families and three great-grandchildren. Grandchildren and Greats are Shane and Isabella Berry of New Braunfels, Texas; Angela and Rich Wike, Evan and Caleb of Clearwater, Florida; Chad and Katie Berry and Lyla of Tampa, Florida; Adam and Liz Berry of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Marie also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families, and dear friends. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Marie met Earl while playing softball in Elvins, Missouri over 75 years ago and married in 1941. While in High School, Marie was an outstanding athlete, playing both softball and volleyball. She evidently was very fast because she was nick named “speed”
Marie was a wonderful homemaker and mother in Missouri until 1960 when the family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she managed the store at the Student Center at the Seminary. They served in churches in Ft. Worth, Texas, Springfield, Missouri, and Irving, Texas. In 1971, they moved to Clearwater, Florida to serve at Calvary Baptist Church.
In 1976, they moved to Lake Yale Baptist Assembly in Eustis, Florida, working for the Florida Baptist Convention until her retirement. She was the office manager at the Assembly. They retired to Clearwater, Florida and enjoyed many happy years with kids and Grandkids and enjoyed international and domestic travels
She will be remembered by many for her outgoing personality, sense of humor and love of family. Memorial contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Clearwater, Florida 33760-9962
