Joan A. Burns, 87, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully in her home on August 7, 2017. Born February 12, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ; she was the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Clossey) McConville. She married Robert F. Burns on September 24, 1955 in Jersey City, NJ.
Joan was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she was a volunteer for Little Christopher's.
She enjoyed spending her time reading, decorating, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Christopher (Kathleen), Jeffrey (Rebecca) and Colleen Burns; grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Connor and Kelly Burns; sister, Mary Bachman; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Paul and Arthur McConville and a sister, Eileen McConville.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Friday, August 11, 2017 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. Burial will take place in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary. Online condolences may be submitted at querhammerandflagg.com
