Mrs. Ruby Pulliam Morton went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 7, 2017. She was born in Stokes County N.C. on March 15, 1928.
She graduated from Kernersville High School in 1944. She graduated from Miller Motte Business College in 1961. She worked for France Neck Ware for a few years. She served for 18 years as the Pastors secretary Temple Baptist Church. She served for 2 years as the Pastors secretary at First Baptist Church in Kernersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lennie Ray Pulliam and Carrie Hartgrove Pulliam, her only sibling her sister Alva Mae Pulliam. She was married to Herman Hubbard Morton for 55 years, who preceded her in death in October 2001.
She is survived by her daughter Imogene Kornegay, and grandchildren Michael Flewwellin, daughter Brittany, Robert Rochelle, Necole Tanner, husband David, great grandchildren Nickalus, Sarah, and Carter. Ruby is also survived by her son Brent Morton, wife Diane, grandson Jonathan Morton, wife Meredith, great granddaughter Airlie, grandson Mathew Morton wife Erika, granddaughter Sarah Martin, husband Jerry and great grandson Titus.
She was a long time member of Lake Forest Baptist Church, and she loved her Lord and Savior where in past years she sang in the Church choir and taught Sunday school. As per her request, Funeral Arrangements will be made by Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at Lake Forest Baptist Church on Friday August 11 at 1:00. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Morton, Matthew Morton, Bentley Suggs, Jerry Martin, Tim Ross, and O.J. Atkinson. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of those who provided her care at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Azalea Heath and Rehabilitation Center. We would like to express our extreme gratitude to all the physicians, nurse practitioner and entire staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. Their care for my mom was above our expectations.
