Frances Pliska Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 8, 2017.

Frances K. Pliska, 81, of Danbury passed away on Sunday August 6th, 2017 in Danbury surrounded by family.

Fran was born in Bridgeport, CT to the parents of Frank and Helen Kaminski on May 30th, 1936. She is a graduate of Danbury High School. Fran worked as an Executive Secretary at Ethan Allen and as a floor receptionist at Yale New Haven Hospital. Fran also worked as a receptionist for Weight Watchers for many years until 2015.

Fran is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved canine companions Samantha and Minnie.

Fran is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband Al Currier of Bethel, her Brother Frank Kaminski and his wife Kathleen of Danbury, and her sister Marion Best of San Diego, CA. She was proud of her grandchildren, Nicholas Cabral and his wife Amanda of Newtown, Allen Currier and his fiancé Meghan Albohn of Brookfield, and Amanda Currier and her companion Richard Ames of Old Lyme. She adored her nieces Lisa DiCandido of New Milford, Diane Knapp of Montrose, PA, and Susan Kaminski of Danbury.

Fran treasured her friendship with Debbie and Jack Sweet of New Milford. She was grateful for the friendship of her neighbors Linda and Marty Kochanov, Doug Lake, and Janet Smith.

Fran preferred her wake and funeral to be private.

As an animal lover Fran would prefer donations in her memory to be made to the Danbury or New Milford Animal Welfare Society.

I worked with Fran for 25 years through weight watchers., and was blessed to have her in my life. She was a kind, gentle soul. Even though I didn't know you,her family, personally I felt as if I did. She spoke of you all so lovingly, and often. And she was especially proud of her 2 grandsons.
She loved her canine friends, especially Minnie. I always told her that if I had to come back into this world as a dog, I wanted to be her dog.
I will always think of Frannie as a very special lady, and a very special friend. My condolences to you. She will be missed.

I was lucky enough to know Fran for most of my life. My mother Ruth Hendricks first worked with Fran at Weight Watchers when I was 17 and then many years later I too worked by Fran's side as a Weight Watchers receptionist. I will always cherish my memories of one of the classiest ladies I have ever known. Fran had style and a friendly way and touched many lives. I send my deepest sympathies to Fran's family and loved ones. Sincerely, Suzanne Lanson
