Dorothy Capps Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 11, 2017.

Dorothy Capps of Tempe, Arizona, passed away August 10, 2017 at the age of ninety- two. Dorothy was born December 5, 1924 to Harry and Emma Rees in the Bronx, New York, and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School. She left New York for Arizona in 1950, where she met the love of her life, Forrest Capps. They married in 1952 and Dorothy bore two sons, Steven Forrest Capps of Shalimar, Florida, and Casey William Capps of Tempe, Arizona. Dorothy's husband, Forrest passed away in 1964, leaving Dorothy to raise her two boys alone. Her strength of spirit, love of life, and wisdom will be missed as she provided the solid and reassuring presence needed to guide her sons through school, college, and life. After retiring from Arizona Public Service, Dorothy spent her retirement years donating her time to her church and helping those less fortunate. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Steven and Casey; daughter-in-law, Judy; grandchildren, Trevor, Jarryd, and Ashleigh; and great grandchildren, Alyssa, Alayna, Asher and Greighton. She was a blessing to each and everyone who knew her and her Spirit and Strength will remain in our hearts forever...A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 9:30 a.m. at Resthaven Carr-Tenney Memorial Gardens, 4310 E. Southern Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85042. Arrangements under the direction of Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary, Phoenix, AZ.
