Daniel E. Proctor, age 73, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving wife on August 11, 2017. He is the son of the late Earl E. and Evelyn B. Proctor of Wood River, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Vonna M. (Lawrence) Proctor. Loving father of Barbara P. Morgan and husband Loren D. Morgan, Shannon M. Nystrom and husband Erik D. Nystrom, and godfather to Jackie Amiri and husband Shahrad Amiri.Devoted Paw Paw to Cameron, Claire, Matthew, Anelia, Riley, and Jared.
He is also survived by two sisters, Sandy Hobbs and husband Ray Hobbs, Jan Groppel and husband Russell Groppel, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will welcome visitors on Monday from 6-8pm and Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15 at 11:00am at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC with burial and military honors to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
The surviving family wishes to express its gratitude to the nursing staff from Transitions Life Care for their care and support of Daniel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transitions Life Care/Hospice of Wake County.

I have know Dan for 29 years and he became a dear friend to me. I was told before I met him that we would be good friends. No statement would ever be any truer than that, I teased him and joked with him for years and he never got mad he say I will get even. he said we were peas in a pod .
