Mary Hansen departed August 7, 2017 in the shadow of the full moon eclipse as the last family elder of her generation born on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation, Belcourt, ND. She was a member of the Chippewa Tribe and grew up in Washington state. She loved makeup, exotic clothing, storytelling and watching her grandchildren grow. In 1962, she joined SGI-USA Buddhism and her unwavering belief in her faith transformed her life and her relationship with her children. She was blessed with 10 children (Jhowel, Yuri, Linda, Rick, Pilar, Sanae, Karen, Paul, Kathy and Tom). She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grand-children whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her soulmate of more than 35 years, Bernardo Moreno. With deep gratitude, we thank neighbor Lindsey S. for providing critical medical support. Services will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis, and Herberger Funeral Home on August 19, 2017 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm (viewing only) 5401 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95819 916-451-7284 Following the viewing, a celebration of life reception will be held at 751 Casmalia Way, Sacramento, CA.
