Noel Adkins Boyd,72, of Amarillo died Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church in Shamrock. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon, 5400 S. Bell St.

Noel Adkins Boyd was born in Shamrock, Texas on October 6, 1944 to Thurman W. Adkins and Jerome Stanley Adkins. She graduated from North Texas State University in 1971. She taught school at Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio and later worked as a Legal Assistant for Baker & Botts Law Firm in Houston before returning to Shamrock in 1977. She married Earl Eugene Boyd in 1981. He preceded her in death in 2007 and she married her Junior High sweetheart, Buck McLemore in May of 2009. Noel was employed for 23 years by the Texas Department of Human Services where she retired in 2001. She was a former member of Thursday Fine Arts Club where she served as President. She was involved in several community service organizations and served as a volunteer for Irish Helping hands, since its inception and as its Vice President for many years. Noel was a member of Thursday Literacy Club and was on the Board of Shamrock Public Library, where she served as President. Noel was also a member of Thursday Bridge Club. Noel served in several board positions at First United Methodist Church in Shamrock. She was Chairman of Trustees, Chairperson of Communications, Chairperson of Council on Ministries and served as Lay Leader and Chairman of the Church Council (Administrative Board). She also served as a Trustee for the Amarillo District of the United Methodist Church. Noel taught Sunday School and was involved in choir work including singing in a ladies group, Joyful Noise. Noel was an active member of United Methodist Women where she held several offices. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Eugene Boyd and her sister-in law, Sue Adkins. Noel is survived by her husband, Buck McLemore; brother, Thurman J. Adkins of San Antonio, Texas and her sister, Lynda Adkins Stephenson and husband Gene of Edmond, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her stepchildren; James Earl Boyd and wife Lynn, of Watauga, Texas; David Allen Boyd and wife Penny of Potomac, Maryland; Theresa Ann Cox and her husband Jerry of Grovetown, Georgia; Misty Noel Siniard and her husband Tim of Amarillo, Texas; Patrick McLemore of Guymon, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren Megan and Michelle Boyd; Emmett Hudson and wife Sandra; Talina McCarney; Samantha and Christopher McLemore. As well as 3 great grandsons. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Shamrock, Texas or a charity of choice.
