Funeral services for Mrs. Janice "Neecy" Harrison will be held Saturday at 11 am at Midway Baptist Church. Revs. Michael Bird, Wayne Edwards, Bill Webb and Keith Grubbs will be officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Little Rock. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Harrison, 86, of Meridian, went to be with her Lord Wednesday at her residence.
She was retired as a longtime sales manager for Firestone formerly on 7th Street in Meridian.
A lifelong member of Midway Baptist Church, Mrs. Harrison was very much involved in her church serving as a Sunday School teacher as well as a choir member. Her friends and family will remember her as a caring, compassionate and persevering lady who possessed the gentle strength to overcome and navigate many obstacles in her life.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by her children Cherry Flanagan (Butch), John D. Harrison (Felicia), Paul M. Harrison (Michaelle), Joel A. Harrison (Pam); sisters Evelyn Dearing, Hazel Milner; brothers Emmett Calvert and Finis S. Calvert. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jenifer Flanagan, Jaycee Butler (Eric), Anna Laurin Coffman (Andy), Courtney Terrell (Anthony), Jason Harrison (Anna), John Hudson Harrison, David Harrison and Luke Harrison along with ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Nina Calvert; husband Duvert B. "Dub" Harrison; brother Gary Calvert; grandsons Joshua Harrison, Zachary Harrison and Caleb Harrison.
Pallbearers will be Eric Butler, Luke Harrison, David Harrison, Jason Harrison, Hudson Harrison, and Anthony Terrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Butler, Eli Harrison, Jonah Harrison and Jaidyn Harrison.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home and Saturday morning 10 am to 11am at Midway Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Nina Tucker Calvert Scholarship Fund, Mississippi College, P.O. box 4005, Clinton, MS 39058. The family would like to express their appreciation for the staff at Quality Hospice, physicians and staff of Rush Foundation Hospital and Specialty Hospital of Meridian.
