Peggy Jackson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2017.

Heaven became Peggy's happy home as she peacefully went to be with her Lord Sunday, August 20, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones.

Peggy Jackson was born December 9, 1929 to the late Herbert Griffith Jackson and Florence Keys Jackson in Leesburg, Virginia, the youngest of three girls. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Miller and Anne Stancer.

Peggy worked in the Pentagon for the Department of Defense in a supervisory position in Army Staff Security for 38 years before retiring in July 1986. After retirement, Peggy moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in September 1986. Her favorite hobby was acrylic oil painting and she enjoyed making little projects to give as gifts. Peggy had a very generous and giving nature and supported many charitable organizations through the years.

She is survived by nieces Carmalyn Miller and Becky Miller of Wilmington, Emily Fletcher (David) of Hayes, Virginia, and nephews Greg Stancer (Mary) of Front Royal, Virginia, and Steve Moss (Linda) of Burleson, Texas, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Oleander Memorial Gardens columbarium located just inside the front gate, with Reverend Bryan Blackwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Valley Baptist Church, 3940 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC 28403, or to Samaritan's Purse to help in the hurricane relief efforts.

I will miss her so much. She was my second mother. Always supportive of my mom and me for as long as I can remember. Her strong faith was an encouragement to me to keep God in my life always. She is at peace now with her father Jesus Christ, and her Mother and Father, along with her sisters.I am very grateful to have been with her too as she passed even though I was 5 hours away. Thanks to my dear cousin Becky who made that possible by putting the phone to her ear so I could say my goodbyes while she was taking her last breathe. She didn't want to be alone and she wasn't. She will always be in my heart til I see her again on the other side.

Peggy was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. I always loved to see her sweet smile when she came into the sanctuary on Sunday Morning. So sorry to hear of her passing and know that Carmalyn and Becky will miss her so much.
