Lawrence (Larry) Emmett Earwood, born September 3, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio, passed away August 13, 2017. (73 years old today). He is survived by his wife, Ellen Evans Earwood, married 51 years. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence Edmond (Michele) and Lance Emmett (Jennifer). He had three step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Eugene and Bessie, and a sister, Clara Jean Kellar. He has two brothers, Kenneth and David (Joyce) and his sister, Deborah Pelfrey (Richard). Larry was a jet mechanic in the US Navy from 1964 – 1968 and was aboard the USS Forrestal when it caught fire; he was also in the Reserves for ten years. He retired from Central Transport and was active in Teamsters Union, Local 957. His hobbies were fishing, barbequing, the computer, playing cards and Krogering. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a Florida snow bird for nine years. He was a lifetime member of VFW 2800. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton and the VA Hospice for the excellent care given to Larry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton and/or the VA Hospice. A memorial service will be held on September 3, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432. Friends may call on the family from 1-3 PM on Sunday. Condolences for the family can be made at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
