IRMO - Martha Cook Hamrick, 79 passed away Thursday, August 23, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Woodfield Park Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Phillips officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Martha was born June 1, 1938 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to Floyd and Ruby Bagley Cook. She was a graduate of the University of North Georgia and was an educator in the school system until she became a devoted wife and mother. She travelled the world alongside her husband but her heart remained in Springplace, Ga., where she grew up.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Eugene Marcus Cook.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Charles J. Hamrick, Sr.; children, Charles “C.J.” Hamrick, Jr (Melinda) and Sharon Hamrick Johnson (Calvin); grandchildren; Jacob F. Hamrick, Em C. Hamrick and Grace E. Johnson; and a sister, Rev. Dr. Carolyn Dipboye.

I am so sorry. Ms. Martha had to be one of the sweetest & most special persons I have ever known. I was in NHC for Rehab. after knee replacement, April & May 2015. Had the pleasure of rooming with her. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you. May The Lord give you his comfort, peace, & strength. Love to all,
