Preston Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 28, 2017.

Preston Williams Sr. was called to eternal peace. Preston was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, honored gate keeper, sporting event supporter, and town favorite. Preston was born in Wellston, OK, the youngest son of eight children of the late David & Margaret Emma Williams. At age 23, he was drafted to the U.S. Army and earned the Army Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert & Marksman badges, and was a proud veteran throughout his life. Preston unexpectedly met the love of his life in 1962 at his nephew's house and knew immediately he wanted her to ride off into the movie of life until his last day on earth. Together, Preston and Velma (Bonnie) Williams were blessed with 54 years of marriage, four children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Early, he worked chopping and selling wood and later, was very well-known as The Chicken Man, the man with the best laying chickens you ever seen. Preston worked various positions at OG&E for many years, then retired to do what he was passionate and dedicated to - anything and everything for his grandchildren, Jones Sports, and breakfast at Roosters. Preston raised his family in the Jones community and held a presence for over 70 years, he was recognized for creating a little league legacy for many generations by donating countless hours to support Jones All Sports and the youth of his community. Preceded in death by siblings, David, Bill, Claude, Harley, Marie, and Shirley; Preston is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie; children, Preston "JR" and Andrea Williams, Venita and Greg Hoover, Paul and Ladonna Williams, and Lonnie and Amy Williams, and sister, Velma White and husband Gene, all of Jones, OK; and grandchildren, Josh Williams, Brandon Sourjohn, Steven Williams, Ryan Williams, Corley Hoover, Baxlee Horton, Lindi Williams, Austin Hoover, Hallee Williams, Leticia Narvaez, Ben Williams, and Preston Williams III. Special recognition and remembrance to honor an extraordinary man will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2 p.m. at the Jones Assembly of God, 957 S.W. 5th St., Jones, OK. Military honor guard graveside burial following at Jones IOOF Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 N.E. 23rd St. in Oklahoma City, OK.

Uncle Preston you were such a very special person. I was totally blessed to have you in my life. You always made sure I knew you loved me from the time I was a little girl until I grew up. I will always think of you with a loving heart and be thankful you were always there. Love you and will miss you, Margaret.

I just wanted Preston's family to know that they are in my thoughts and prayers today. Although, I didn't know Preston all that well, I remember him being a very kind man. JR was my brother's best friend growing up, so I knew him more through Tim and JR. God be with you at this difficult time.
Love, Debbie Schones
