Wanda Faye Covington Taylor of Flowood, MS, died August 27, 2017 at the age of 78 after an extended illness. Prior to moving to The Blake in Flowood in 2016 she lived in Ridgeland, MS where she was a beloved neighbor and active member of First United Methodist Church.
Wanda was born on October 11, 1938 in Marks, MS to Claric Clayton Covington and Martha Jo Hopper Covington and grew up in Midnight, MS. She graduated from Belzoni High School and Draughon's Business College in Jackson, MS. She retired in 1999 from the MS State Department of Education where she worked in the Division of Vocational Education's administrative offices. Upon retirement she enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Clay Taylor (Dell), daughter, Beth Feisel (Kevin), sister, Jane Kelly, sister-in-law, Jonnie Covington, four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her sweetheart and husband of 52 years, Frank Arnold Taylor, and her brother, Claric Clayton Covington II.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30 at Parkway Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30 at same location.
