Sylva Homer Dickson, Jr. was born April 11, 1932 and went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2017. Sylva "Bud" was born in Beach Bottom, West Virginia. His parents were Sylva and Ercel Dickson. Bud lived in The Villages. He was a member of the Fairway Christian Church where a memorial service is planned for this Saturday, September 2, at 10:00 AM. The address is 251 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages. Bud served our country as an officer in the Air Force after graduating from the University of West Virginia. He practiced as a CPA for the State of West Virginia before retiring to Florida. Bud is best known and is somewhat of a celebrity because of the thousands of golf lessons he taught at Water Oaks Country Club. He found joy in teaching golfers of all ages to enjoy the game of golf, charging a nominal fee, and using the money to send underprivileged kids to summer camp. Bud is survived by his sons James (Brenda) and David (Jamie) Dickson, sisters Joan (Bill) Rodak and Joyce (Stan) Coulter, grandchildren Stephanie, Ryan, Billy, Carma, Jay, and Roger and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by Stephen (Lorene) Davidson, Kevin (Judy) May, children of his deceased wife Dottie, whom he loved as his own children along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bud will be missed by all who knew and loved him. If you would like to honor Bud, donations may be made to The First Tee, an organization who introduces the game of golf to young people at: www.thefirstteegreaterocala.org.
