Donald F. Ross, born May 22, 1924 in Mineral, Arkansas, passed away August 28, 2017 in Mesquite, Texas.
Don joined the Army Air Corps on December 10, 1942. A much-decorated war hero in World War II, he flew 35 bombing missions over Germany, then flew B-25s stationed in India doing search and rescue in China for airmen returning from Japan. He declined a Purple Heart offered him after being struck by shrapnel, feeling his injuries weren’t severe enough.
He had a love for music, playing many instruments. He had a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, working for Oklahoma Highway Patrol and RCA Victor.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mazelle Ross of Mesquite, Texas, as well as his three children: Mike Ross of Gilmer, Texas; Debbie Ross Tudor of Laguna Vista, Texas; and Mark Ross of Mesquite, Texas, as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The funeral and interment will be Friday, September 1, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, Texas. Visitation is at 8:00 a.m. and the service begins at 10:00 a.m.

Jack and I really feel your loss and loneliness. We loved both you and Don and enjoyed his picking and your singing. The world was made better for yalls help in putting on the bluegrass benefit shows. God has truly blessed us all.
