Sylvia P. Wood, 76, of Franklin County, most recently of Ashland, passed away on August 30, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Mae Powell. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert "Bob" Wood; daughter, Cindy Wood-Parker; grandson, Jake Parker; brother-in-law, Richard Wood (Jelaine) and a large extended family and her friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2pm at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 665 S Main St, Rocky Mount, VA 24151, the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henrico Police Foundation, P.O. Box 3165, Glen Allen, VA 23058 or at henricopolicefoundation.org.
