Wilma Leota Conwell, age 78 of Centerville, OH and Tampa, FL went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 31, 2017. She was born March 16, 1939 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Lewis and Anna Fite.
Wilma is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Lt. Col. U.S. Air Force (Ret.) Don Conwell, and three siblings. She is survived by children: Corinne Conwell Galassi, George D. "Don" (Nancy) Conwell, Jr., Lewis (Melanie) Conwell and Faith Conwell; siblings, Frank (Brenda) Fite, Fred (Dottie) Fite;13 grandchildren: Michael (Christine), Matthew (Christina), Morgan, Lydia (Mike), Andrea (Jason), Jessica, Jennifer (James), Eric (Arisa), Sterling, Christina, Meghann, Christopher (Amber) and Cody (Alyssa); 10 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Nicholas, Emily, Lauren, Max, Evelyn, Peter, Elaine, Isabelle, Abigail, Theodore, and Willow; brother-in-law, Arnold (Lois) Conwell; sisters-in-law: Beverly Hinkell and Denise (Jamie) Neal; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wilma loved people and enjoyed life. She laughed easily and smiled a lot, radiating warmth and beauty with her bright, blue eyes. She loved to sing hymns, to pet the livestock at county fairs, and to cheer for the Ohio State and Notre Dame football teams. Wilma loved her family, nurturing kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and cooking delicious meals for them. Throughout her life, Wilma delighted in serving others, usually in churches and nursing homes. She held a special place in her heart for the elderly and disabled, caring for them for as long as she was able.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday September 10, 2017 at Christ’s Church, 3370 Upper Bellbrook Road, Bellbrook, Ohio, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 2-3 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, where she will rest beside her beloved husband, Don. Contributions may be made in Wilma’s memory to the Wounded Warriors Project.
