LINDA FRANKLIN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2017.

The world lost a truly special person August 29, 2017 when Lynne Franklin passed away peacefully in her sleep at her beloved cabin in Westcliffe, Colorado. Born in Torrance, California on May 2, 1941 to Victor and Faye Hrbacek, the family moved back to Oklahoma in 1947. Graduating from Northwest Classen High School in 1959, Lynne went on to graduate from OU in 1962 with a Special Education degree. She continued with post graduate work at UCO.

Lynne married the love of her life on March 19, 1966 when she married Ed Franklin to become an Air Force wife for 33 years. She took the Air Force challenges like she took everything else, in stride and with grace, and taught Special Education in six states. She taught in a way to ensure her "kids" reached their greatest potential.

Lynne made permanent friends wherever she went with people from all walks of life. She loved adventure and never shied from the opportunity to experience new things, whether they were Army Ranger camps in the swamps of Florida, riding camels, hot-air ballooning over France, riding endurance horses or thoroughly enjoying the cliff dwellings and native culture in the Southwest. She traveled extensively internationally throughout Western Europe, Czech Republic, Japan and New Zealand and throughout the US and Canada.

She was an avid reader, always having a book in her hand. If she wasn't reading, she was creating beautiful quilts, tablecloths or wall hangings. Her love of animals equaled her love of sewing and reading.

Moving to Edmond in 2013, she rapidly became a Thunder fan, rooting enthusiastically for them and the Sooners.

She loved God, her family, her country, her friends and her special needs kids with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed.

Lynne is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, Ed, three daughters; Denise, Heather and Kimberly (Montey), six grandchildren; Ashley, Sam, Zachary, Alex, Lauren and Lily, their furry children; Victor and Joker and her sisters; Vicki (Dave) and Karen, who all love her beyond words.

Dear Ed and Family,
The Olde Schoolhouse Quilters of Westcliffe, CO are saddened by the loss of Lynne during the time we were setting up our annual quilt show. I first met Lynne a few days before our quilt show 4 years ago. Lynne and her sisters were so gracious to donate fabric to the quilters of Westcliffe through the years. We are gratified that Lynne won a second place ribbon for her Thunderbird wallhanging in 2016. She and her quilt are recorded in our 2016 Scrapbook and we will be able to remember her generosity and love for the quilters of Westcliffe. Our hearts go out to your family, but we pray the quilts that she has created will wrap her family in warm, comforting memories long into the future.

Dear Ed,
We are so heartbroken to hear about Lynne. Our condolences to your whole family. We are so grateful that we got to know her for just a few years but she was such a joy and blessing to us in that short time. Lynne was warm and kind with a beautiful spirit. I don't think I ever saw her without a smile. She was truly special. She had so much love for her family, friends and "Fur Babies". We will forever cherish the times we had with her and with you. We are praying for you and your family and will continue to do so.

We love you ,
Dan and Tempe Perreira,
