Patricia Merle Ferrer Woodstein passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the age of 78. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Edward and Shirley Ferrer.
Beloved wife of 44 years to the late Navy Captain, Dr. Ira Jelin Woodstein. Mother of Anne Lesley Woodstein Miller and Wendy Woodstein Shelhamer. Mother-in-law of Neil B. Traylor III and Scott Leigh Shelhamer. Grandmother of Allyson Patricia Miller, Anne Victoria Traylor, Kate Leigh Shelhamer, and Luke Scott Shelhamer.
Patricia was a graduate of East Jefferson High School in Metairie and the Mather School of Nursing, Southern Baptist Hospital (1959) in New Orleans. She became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with the United States Navy in 1967. She was a member of the Navy Nurse Corps from 1962-1968, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. After her military service, she attended Nicholls State University where she obtained her BSN in 1986. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Navy Nurse Corps Association, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Poydras Home Board of Trustees (2004-2013), and Fine Arts Society New Orleans. She served as President of the Poydras Home Auxiliary from 2000-2003 and President of the Board of Trustees of Poydras Home in 2007 and 2008. She served as a volunteer at Encore Shop from 1998 to 2016 and as Chairman of the Encore Shop, Symphony Volunteers from 2001 to 2003.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 12 PM. Public visitation will begin at 10:30 AM.

My sympathies to Pat's family, she was a wonderful lady. She was warm giving, funny, and oh so capable of so many accomplishments. The years we shared in the Navy were some of the best a person can experience. We all have been blessed by knowing her.
