In Loving Memory

Robert James Beaudry

December 17, 1939 – September 2, 2017

Robert James Beaudry, Bob, age 77 passed away peacefully on September 2, 2017. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in May 2016 and fought a courageous battle until the end.

Bob was born to parents Alfred and Margaret Beaudry in Minot, North Dakota. His family relocated from Minot to Tulare, CA and finally settled in Yakima WA. Bob graduated from Marquette High School in Yakima where he played both football and baseball and then from Gonzaga University where he met the love of his life, Shirley Jean Fazzari from Walla Walla, WA. Bob and Shirley were married in Walla Walla, August 19, 1967. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by going on an Alaskan cruise with their family. They raised two daughters, Stannye and Mollie in Everett, WA.

Bob had a successful career working in operations for General Telephone Company. In 1991 Bob and Shirley left their home state of Washington and relocated to Tampa. Retiring in 1996, Bob enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, traveling, and an occasional good Martini. He was an avid sports fan and loved professional and college football, rooting for Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball as well as cheering on his grandchildren in their soccer, lacrosse and basketball games. Bob was a devout Catholic, a parishioner of Incarnation Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of the Bayport Yacht Club for the past 26 years.

Bob was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather (Papa) and friend. He was a kind man, soft spoken and had a great sense of humor. He could often be found reading the paper in his favorite chair with an iced cold drink and his beloved cat on his lap. He will be missed deeply.

Bob is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter and son-in-law, Stannye and Todd Nelson, Piedmont CA, daughter and son-in-law, Mollie and Tim Stitt, Palo Alto, CA, six grandchildren, Ashley, Jack and Rylan Nelson, Kayla, Hailene and Aspen Stitt and sister Janice Sali, Yakima, WA.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00am on September 16th, 2017 at Incarnation Catholic Church, 5111 Webb Road, Tampa. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Incarnation Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

It was at our 50th high school reunion that I was able to have a conversation with Bob, and meet Shirley. There are good memories and a strong example for living.

Bob was a great friend as well as a great person. He had many challenges in life that he overcame with great ease. He was very inspirational and was so proud of his family. Tremendous sense of humor and a gentle manner that I enjoyed as his friend at Gonzaga and after in San Francisco. Always looked forward to seeing him and Fuzzy whenever we could. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest In Peace Bob. Roger n Jeannie LeBold

Bob was one of the nicest men I ever met. We loved him dearly all the years we knew him. He was so kind to our son John, even taking him on vacation with them. Our hearts are with the family as you grieve his passing, but we know he is with our Lord Jesus in Heaven and we rejoice that he is no longer in pain. Please accept our sincere sympathy and know we are there with you in spirit. Hugs!

A good and thoughtful man was my Uncle Bob...Young enough to be my brother but wise enough to be my father. When he spoke, he did so softly but he was more inclined to listen to what others had to say. I'll miss his visits to the Pacific Northwest with my Aunt Shirley and that little grin he gave so freely. God bless him.
