Tate Gladstone, “T.G.” Edwards, born November 12, 1931 died peacefully on Labor Day, September 4, 2017 at Golden Years Nursing Home. T.G. had a reputation for working diligently all his life as a farmer and later as owner and operator of Sunset Hardware in Sunset Harbor, North Carolina but is best known for his logging and saw milling business he established in Godwin, NC. The son of the late George and Mary Elizabeth Edwards, he was preceded in death by sons George Scott and John Randall; daughters Janet Faye and Donna Marie; sisters Bonnie, Earline, Callie, Mamie and Margaret.
T.G. is survived by daughter, Diana Barefoot of Dunn; son, Marshall Tate of Dunn; grandchildren, Robin, Michael and Ronnie Paul Barefoot, Matthew Edwards and Tami Cox, and Joseph Co le and Lillian Marie Langdon; great-grandchildren Ryan and Reilly Dunn, Isabella Grace and Savannah Blake Barefoot, Cloe and Addison Edwards and Joshua Cox; brother, Frank T. Edwards; sisters, Mary Ruth Snyder and Nancy Jordan; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Cromartie-Miller Funeral home in Dunn and at other times at the home of Diana Barefoot at 1726 Green Path Road, Dunn, NC.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Snyder.T.G. had a heart for helping the less fortunate and made an effort to lend a hand to those who had fell on hard times. The family requests that in lieu of flowers; please send a donation in memory of T.G. Edwards to the Beacon Rescue Mission, 207 West Broad Street, Dunn, NC 28334.
