Sidney Allen Spencer, 73, of Waynesboro passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home.
Born August 11, 1944 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Curtis M. and Catherine Moore (Buchanan) Spencer.
Prior to retirement, Sidney was employed by Merck where he worked in the Maintenance Department for 25 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served his country honorably during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Yvonne (Comer) Spencer; his three daughters, Cynthia S. Shaner (Jed) of Buffalo Gap, Kimberly S. Willis of Charlotte, NC and Margaret Ann Payne (Ricky) of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Matthew A. Waldrop (Kara), Lyndsey E. Underwood (Scott), Keaton G. Shaner, Joshua A. Willis, Christopher Willis, Spencer Willis and Madison C. Payne; great-grandchildren, Drew K. Willis and Olivia J. Waldrop; sister, Patsy (Spencer) Lawson (Cecil) of Waynesboro; brothers-in-law, Darryl M. Comer and Marce W. Comer (Elta) and families; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, there will be no formal services but friends may visit with the family at his home.
