Patricia A. Barrows 81, of North Street, Keene, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Westwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Keene.
She was born in Keene, NH on June 16, 1936, the daughter of Wilfred and Frances (Norton) Joyal.
A lifelong resident of Keene, Patricia was a 1954 graduate of Keene High School.
She took great pride in being a stay at home mother, and also helped other mothers with taking care of their children and making a unique impact on their lives with her special love for each and every one of them.
When her children were grown, she went to work for several years in the environmental services department at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene.
Patricia enjoyed knitting and cooking. She especially enjoyed baking, and was always offering her baked goods, especially cakes, to various charitable organizations. Caring for others and the giving of herself first, was a trait Patricia will always be remembered for.
She will be greatly missed by many, especially her children, Michael E. Barrows of Clark Mills, NY and Karen M. Martin of Swanzey, NH; four grandchildren, Robbie Barrows, Jr., Ryan Barrows, Jason Barrows and his wife, Erica, Kyle Martin; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Kellom of Swanzey; and many nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ernest Clayton Barrows on August 23, 2016; a son, Robert A. Barrows in 1994; a sister, Joanne Dyer; and a son-in-law, Dennis J. Martin in 2012.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Barrows' memory to the St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry, c/o Parish of the Holy Spirit, 161 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431.
