Patrick Brinkley, 77, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Gladeview Rehabilitation & Health Care in Old Saybrook.
He leaves behind his son, Patrick Brinkley; daughter, Priscilla Brinkley; his grandchildren, Brandon, Noah, and Aiden; brother, Kenneth Brinkley and wife Judith; sister, Mary Bauer and husband Walter; sister, Jean Spicer and husband Dirck. He also left behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by brother, Texas Brinkley; and sister, Sharon Selby and husband William.
In his early years, Pat had many talents that led to many careers throughout his life, but being a mechanic was his most constant passion. He had a strong, artistic ability that is shown through drawings, writing poetry, and wood working.
Patrick was a loving father who was proud of his children and spoke of them often. He was known for his rough edge and heavy sarcasm but was always very caring with family and friends. He loved telling stories about the past; he was animated and bright-eyed when talking about his passions, trouble he would get into in his youth, and his family. He was loved by many and was surrounded by his loved ones during his passing to see him through. The staff at Gladeview Rehabilitation appreciated his sarcasm, his stubbornness, creating laughter with his humor, and his endless pacing of the halls making him the resident patrolman. He will be thought of often and dearly missed.
