James Truell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 6, 2017.

James Allen Truell, 63, of Caseyville, Illinois, born July 19, 1954 in St. Louis, MO, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, in Belleville, Illinois.

Jim enjoyed fishing and passed his passion onto his daughters and family. He loved music and played in several country/rock bands. He could play just about any instrument by ear but focused on guitar, keyboard, and vocals. He was considered by family, as Mr. Fix-it and was the go to person to get any job done. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred J. and McNeva, nee Westerman, Truell; and a brother-in-law, Stevie Mason.

Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara D. Mason, of Caseyville, Illinois; his daughters, Jamie L. (Greg) Boynton, of Troy, Illinois and Danielle (Mike Bell) James, of Eddyville, Kentucky; his three grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, and Richie; a sister, Terry Lemansky, of Caseyville, Illinois; and other relatives and friends.

I am a very old childhood friend of James from our days in Hollywood Heights, IL. We were in the same class together up to sixth grade. I was recollecting some childhood memories and started searching media for some old friends. Unfortunately, I just found the legacy posting from several years ago. We are the same age. I remember his guitar playing being so good in Junior High and his dad's love of sporty Plymouths. He was also a good pool player. I moved away in my high school years and we only saw each other a couple of times after that. He was a cool guy and a good childhood friend.
