Joan Spellman Obituary

Joan Spellman (nee Stevens) died at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond, Texas on August 30, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 85.

Joan was born on June 30, 1932 in Hartford, CT to her parents, Daniel and Margaret Stevens. She graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1950. She married Raymond "Mark" Spellman December 26, 1953. The Spellmans lived in Wethersfield all their lives where Joan was a medical assistant for the late Edward P. Wilmer, a local pediatrician.

Joan was active in many civic clubs and activities during her lifetime and was both an accomplished rug-maker and a great fan of UCONN Women's Basketball and the Boston Red Sox.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Debra Kelly and her son and daughter-in-law Steven and Darlene Spellman as well as six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Stevens and her son, Mark Spellman.

Joan will be buried in a private ceremony at a future date. A memorial gathering will take place will take place at a later date.
