Duane L. Petrakis, 72, of Peoria, Illinois passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born on March 17, 1945 in Peoria, Illinois to Bernard and Caryl (Kasebier) Petrakis Sr.
He is survived by six children, Kevin (Marnee) Petrakis of Abingdon, Illinois, Gina (Michael) Prevette of Chatsworth, Georgia, Jerry Petrakis of Peoria, Tye (Kellie) Petrakis of Chillicothe, Kerry Petrakis and Troy (Andrea) Lane both of Bartonville; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; nine siblings, David (Barbara) Petrakis, Paul Petrakis both of Peoria, Daniel Petrakis of West Peoria, Bernard Petrakis Jr of Liverpool, Janet Patton of Bolingbrook, Illlinois, Debra Johnigk of Chillicothe, Gloria Schooley of Dunlap, Gayla (Mike) Wascher of Orlando, Florida and Mari (Carl) Doubet of Hanna City. He was preceded by one brother, John Petrakis and one sister, Karen Petrakis.
Duane was a foreman for Peoria Blacktop for many years retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Laborers Local Union #165. He was the social director at the Canton high rise. He enjoyed chess, scrabble and music.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 2 pm at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Craig Hislope will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior the service on Tuesday. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. You may create an online condolence at www.davison-fultonbartonvillechapel.com.
