I remember Pearl from Winn Dixie. She always had a smile on her face for my mother and me. She was our favorite. Very sorry for your loss. She was a kind and loving person.

My favorite memory of my Mom was when I was about 5 or 6 yrs old, maybe younger. I wanted to put my babydoll dress in rollers on old washer to wring out water and she said when she got back from clothes line she would help me! Well I didn't wait til she got back. I tried it on my own and my arm got stuck in the rollers and I screamed for Mama. She ran back to get my arm out and said she was glad she loosened it up before going to the clothes line! If not my arm would have been mush! She knew me so well! I thank my Mom for saving my arm and my life! I will always Love and Miss her so much!

I always felt welcome at Ms. Desilet's home when I came to play with her children starting in the 1960's, and kept in touch in later years when she lived on the same street (Wheat St.) as my mom. She was a sweet lady, and very devoted to her family. We will miss her, but also glad that she is surely in a peaceful place with God. I am still in close contact with her son, Ronnie, and daughter, Karen, and thankful for their friendship!

I have great memories of having dinners at Aunt Pearl's house. I always marveled at how the Newton ladies were so different but so alike in so many ways. She has been on my mind, I am sad to hear of her passing.. Rest in peace Aunt Pearl!.

Mom, I love you and miss you more than you could ever know. I wish I had been a much better daughter to you. My heart hurts so bad not having you in my life, but I know you are no longer suffering in any way - and that brings me some comfort. I look forward to being with you in Heaven. I hear you and feel you in my mind and heart constantly. So you will be with me in that way. I am so glad to have beautiful pictures of you to look at. You were the best and most beautiful Mother ever. All my love, Kathy.

When I learned of Aunt Pearl's passing, I told my wife and kids about the fond memories I have of her and her family. Like the dinners we shared while the adults played cards...Aunt Pearl's beautiful deep blue eyes...how I've always loved the smell of Jergen's hand lotion that permeated her home...the dog named Sheba...remembering Aunt Pearl at the cash register of the grocery store where she worked...my adolescent crush on cousin Kathy...cousin Ronnie's magnificent artistic talent...and the time I accidentally engaged the neutral on my mom's '57 chevy and started rolling backwards down Wheat Street (I believe it was Cousin Phil that rescued me). These are wonderful memories. We hope your memories sustain you in your loss.
The Desilet family is in our thoughts.
With Sincerest Condolences,
Michael, Beth, Ethan and Amelia Hopkins
