Mark Ray Hemp, 63, of Waynesboro, gained his wings on September 11, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Mark was born June 24, 1954 in Harrisonburg, the son of the late Henry and Doris Hemp.
Mark was one of the most kindhearted people ever to live and all who knew him were blessed. On February 23, 1980, Mark married his wife, Marcie Wimer Hemp of 37 years who survives.
Mark enjoyed long rides on backroads and in the mountain with his family and recently enjoyed coloring with his grandson, Colton while his health didn't allow anything else.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Travis Hemp; brother, Randy Hemp; mother-in-law, Alice Wimer and brother-in-law, Mickey Wimer.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Marcie, include a son, Chris Hemp; daughter, Tami Hemp; sister, Carolyn Golladay and Raymond Glass; brother, Calvin Hemp and wife, Ann; sisters-in-law, Diane Hart and companion, Mike and Theresa Hewitt and husband, Marlin; brothers-in law, Steven Wimer and wife, Sharon, Jimmy Wimer and wife, Debbie and David Wimer and wife, Barbie; father-in-law, Buddy Wimer and wife, Glenda; four grandsons, that he loved dearly, Bryan, Brandon, Jacob and Colton. Mark also leaves special friends Monica and Mitch; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends he made over the years while working in the insurance and body shop businesses.
A service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Janet Elsea officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be his nephews, Scotty Thompson, Cory Golladay, R. J. Golladay, Bubby Hemp, Jr., Michael Hemp and Steve Howery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Drs. Koch, Weldearegay, Pollock, Morgan and the staff of Sentara RMH Medical Center, Preston L. Yancey Fire Department and Augusta County Rescue Squads.
