Rosalio (Sleepy) Caballero
Born June 2, 1927 – September 12, 2017
90 years old.
Rosalio was born in Los Angeles, California to (late) Rosalio and (late) Florence Caballero-Tibon (late) Frank Tibon Sr. He has been a resident of Stockton, California for eighty years. Rosalio was in the Coast Guard in 1945. He began a boxing careen in San Joaquin Valley. The memory is still fresh in the older community. There was a total of 300 Plus fights in the Bantam and fly weight division. Rosalio worked at Diamond Walnut in Stockton and retired in 1985, after 29 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, since child hood. Moose Lodge, Stockton Chapter, accepted him into their brotherhood. He was the first Filipino to join! He is a lifetime member of F.A.H.N.S. (Filipino American Historical Society) one of the original founders of the chapter in Stockton, California. The past Mayor Podesta presented him with a boxing banner of Sleepy fighting. In honor of Little Manila, it hung on a pole by South Center and Lafayette street. He is also a member of the American Legion Post.
He loved his devoted wife Eulene (Cookie) Caballero and his (5) children.
Son Mike Caballero, daughter Jolene Caballero-Gibson, son John (Petra) Caballero, daughter Elena (Dan) Caballero-Rillon, daughter Roselene (Hernan Ernie) Caballero-Cortez
And his (14) Grand Children
Felicia, Michael, David, Shaon, Aaron, Cory, Dale, John Jr., Nikolaus, Mike Jr., Gabriel, Marissa, Joseph, Maxine.
And (14) Great Grand Children
Isaac, Mariah, Gabriella, Kingston, Vincent, Jaylen, Jazlyn, Koli, Keoni, Aroon, Aharun, Isabel, Zoie, Zadie
He loved his brothers and sisters the, (late) Sue Mangrobang (Jay), Gene (Janet) Tibon, (late) David (Johanna) Tibon, (late) Frank Jr. (Lupie) Tibon, Joyce (Bob) Balandra, Larry (Angie) Caballero, Florencio (Sherry) Caballero.
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, Elder and Friend to many. You will be missed by many and loved by all!
