Barbara Lane Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2017.

Barbara E. (Wodja) Lane, 74, wife of the late Ronald P. Lane of Norwich, died peacefully Thursday evening at home surrounded by her family. Born in Yonkers, NY on June 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the Late Anthony and Loretta (Lowery) Wodja. She dedicated her life to the care of others as a mental health professional at Norwich State Hospital in Preston, CT. During the course of her career she obtained her RN and continued to follow her passion for supporting the mental health field through working with clients of Caring Community, Colchester, CT; retiring in 2016. A day never passed without Barbara showing her love of family and friends especially the support of her children's sport aspirations. She spent time enjoying traveling with friends and family. She will be remembered as a woman of tremendous strength, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and true friend to all who had the honor of meeting her. On August, 5 1967 in Yonkers, NY she was united in marriage to Ronald P. Lane. A loving mother of three children, Michael P. Lane of Old Saybrook, David T. Lane of Bozrah, and Kerri Lane of Norwich. Proud Grandmother of six grandchildren; Kaitie Graichen, Tanya Lane, Taylor Lane, Zachary Lane, Mackenzie Lane and Connor Lane. Further survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Tuesday, at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, where the funeral will assemble on Wednesday at 9 A.M. and proceed to the Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of St. Patrick precisely at 9:30 for mass at 10 A.M. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Center for Hospice Care of South East CT, 227 Dunham St, Norwich, CT 06360. My thoughts and prayers goes out to the Lane Family. Barbara was always kind and things never seem to get her down. I will always remember, when I was visiting , my nephew Tyson & Kerri, they all treated me like one of the family.... she was always on call for her nursing duties...it seemed I every week-end I was there, she always got
calls....never did I ever see her getting upset to stop what she was doing to give her expert advice. I think she was a very special person and we are all fortunate who have had the pleasure of knowing her in our lives.......Rest in Peace, Barbara.....Happy Trails to you, till we meet again........love, Aunt June
